OUR CORE VALUES

Persistance ~ Play ~ Passion

Discovery
 During discovery, we learned:
â—‹ All about color sensors and how to properly measure distance using motors and sensors.
â—‹ Runoff from the streets goes directly into the bay
â—‹ Information and facts about the aquatic ecosystem and where mosquitoes fit in
â—‹ Mosquitoes are intolerant to pollution
○  Mosquitoes cause Malaria, West Nile Virus and Zika and these diseases affect large portions of the population
â—‹ Only female mosquitoes bite and inject diseases into humans
â—‹ By checking the acidity in water, we can determine how suitable the water is for supporting aquatic life
â—‹ We were able to balance all aspects of our project by multi-tasking and performing tasks in parallel. Everyone was able to contribute in each and every phase of the project.

Integration
During integration, we applied Core Values by:
â—‹ Using the problem solving skills that we learned while building the drone, and applying them when working through similar projects at school.
â—‹ In studying in Science classes, the information about mosquitoes was used.
â—‹ The technology that was used in the LiDAR sensors can be used throughout all classes relating to STEAM.
â—‹ Our initial goal was reached by learning how the different sensors could each contribute to out in capturing mosquitoes and further separating by gender for research.
â—‹ We used a step by step approach to attain our final goal of capturing the mosquitoes.

Inclusion
During inclusion:
• Each team member was assigned to research and contribute knowledge to different areas of the project.
• We made sure to make pizza a part of the work sessions.
• During the creation of the skit, all persons wrote and agreed about the tone of the presentation.
• We were able to come together and collaborate on the best way to make our project seamless.
• We were major players in all decisions and were major contributors to every part of the project.
• Everyone was able to contribute in each and every phase of the project. We were able to balance all aspects of our project by multi-tasking and performing tasks in parallel.

Cooperation
During cooperation:
â—‹ Our team honored each team member for his/her team spirit by continuously allowing an open and inviting forum for all to have a chance to express his/her opinion.
â—‹ We continuously thanked each member for his/her contributions and let him/her know that we could not have a complete project without the input from everyone.
â—‹ We learned that working together to create a project brings different viewpoints, perspectives, and group diversity to complete the outcome.

Community Teamwork
â—‹ MA Engineering, Inc. provided a tour and demonstration of the a working LiDAR sensors.
â—‹ A volunteer from Textron Systems attended a session and shared his expert knowledge of the mechanics of drones
â—‹ The local owner of FastSigns shared the knowledge of competitions where they were participants.
â—‹ Longview Baptist Church allowed the team to use it's space to prepare the project and competition.
â—‹ Irvine Nature Center provided an educational tour about aquatic.
